- Meghan Markle is sharing the “best accessory” to wear with any outfit.
- Meghan revealed her tip during a video call with the organization, Smart Works, which provides interview clothes and interview training for women looking to re-enter the workforce.
Meghan Markle is an actress. She’s a philanthropist. She’s a duchess. Oh yeah, and she’s a pro at giving fashion advice. A year ago, she partnered with the U.K. charity, Smart Works, to create quality workwear for women looking to re-enter the workforce. In honor of that partnership, she joined a video call with the organization to talk fashion and female empowerment.
“People can say that so much of Smart Works is about the clothes themselves but it’s really not,” she explained to three clients who’ve worked with the organization. “All of that stuff is the exterior but it’s what it does for you on the inside that ends up being the best accessory.”

She added, “It’s the confidence, it’s what is built within, that is the piece that you walk out of that room with, and walk into the interview with that will take you to the next layer of success.”
So there you have it. It’s not a piece of jewelry, a handbag, or a scarf. The best accessory you can wear is your confidence. Your self-esteem is what will set you apart from others, at least, according to Meghan.
“As women, so often it’s easy to forget all of your skills and your assets, not that they’re not there, but you need someone sometimes to point them out for you,” she continued. “That’s critical because what I find is, women who volunteer with Smart Works… is that they’re not pointing out something that doesn’t exist, they’re seeing it in you for the first time.”
I don’t know about you, but I think that’s some pretty great advice.
